For Churches
Churches & Mental Health
Church leaders are so often on the front lines of mental health struggles, carrying a heavy pastoral burden for their communities. I partner with local ministries to provide trusted mental health resources for UK churches, offering a professional, remote referral pathway for the people you care for. Because I am an accredited Christian therapist practising evidence-based CBT, you can feel confident introducing me to your congregation. I work alongside your pastoral care team to support individuals dealing with anxiety, trauma and stress, ensuring they receive clinical excellence from a therapist who understands and respects their faith.
Supporting your congregation
Churches can choose to sponsor a set number of therapy (CBT) sessions for members of their congregation who are suffering with anxiety-driven problems or PTSD, making professional mental health support more accessible to those who might otherwise struggle to afford it.
These packages can be tailored to the size and needs of your church, providing a practical way for churches to invest in the wellbeing of their people.
Equipping pastoral and leadership teams
Churches have a unique opportunity to support the mental health and wellbeing of their congregations—but pastors and ministry leaders aren’t expected to be mental health professionals. I work with churches to build confident, compassionate approaches to mental health, helping pastoral and leadership teams recognise when someone may need more than pastoral support and when clinical intervention or specialist care may be appropriate. I work directly with churches through talks, training sessions and workshops designed to help leaders:
-
Understand common mental health difficulties and how they may present
-
Recognise when pastoral concerns may require clinical intervention
-
Know how to respond safely and appropriately when someone is struggling
-
Understand the boundaries between pastoral care and professional mental health treatment
-
Develop clearer pathways for signposting and referring people to appropriate support
-
Support the wellbeing of pastors, ministry teams and church leaders themselves
The aim isn’t to turn church leaders into therapists. It’s to give them the knowledge and confidence to recognise when someone needs additional help, respond with compassion, and know what to do next.
If your church would like to explore sponsoring therapy sessions, arranging training for your leadership team, or developing a broader approach to mental health within your church community, I’d be happy to talk.
