Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based talking therapy, with a focus on the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Often, we find ourselves caught in unhelpful thought patterns which can result in negative behaviours. When we become more aware of ourselves and are able to challenge and adapt those thoughts and behaviours, we can start to improve how we feel.
CBT is particularly helpful when working with problems of low mood (depression) and a variety of anxiety problems, from general worrying to health anxiety and OCD. It is also used to effectively treat symptoms of PTSD.
CBT is a collaborative way of working; you bring your experiences, I bring my training and insight, and together, we work to identify and adapt your day-to-day experiences with the goal of improving your mood. Furthermore, the long-term aim is for you to finish therapy equipped with practical tools and meaningful knowledge and experience of how to apply them, so that you can become your own therapist.
